About Us

Phuket PALS was set up in 2010 by Dr. Suttada Rueangsuttapha and Mr. Michael R. Keag with a mission to raise educational standards on the island of Phuket, Thailand. The school tutors students and also organizes cultural and language programs to places as far afield as the UK, France and Australia. These overseas adventures give young people from Phuket the chance to live, study and thrive in foreign cultures.

In 2013

The founders of Phuket PALS observed a polarized educational landscape on the island: on the one hand elite international schools educated students using the British Curriculum, sending students to prestigious universities around the globe; on the other hand, Thai government high schools taught with large class sizes and more limited opportunities for their students. Phuket PALS’ founders believed a middle way between these two options was possible.

In 2014

Phuket PALS found this way when it became authorized partner and test preparation provider for GED Testing Services USA. Soon after, Phuket PALS became a partner of Pearson VUE making the school southern Thailand’s only GED Testing center. Now students in Phuket had the opportunity to take the GED test, which is a US High School diploma, enabling students to earn an internationally recognized high school diploma without the prohibitively expensive cost of an international school education.

In 2015

Phuket PALS moved its operations to a new, purpose education center in Kathu, Phuket. This upgrade coincided with the school forming a network of partnerships around the world with institutions in a range of countries including Singapore, Switzerland, the USA, Canada, the UK, Thailand, Germany and more. These connections enabled Phuket PALS’ graduates to follow trusted pathways to quality education providers overseas.

As well as providing GED students with the help and support, over the years Phuket PALS has tutored countless students from international schools and Thai schools alike for examinations including IGCSE, A Level, SAT, IB, IELTS, TOEFL to name a few.

Phuket PALS is now also a partner and test center for IDP IELTS. This means students in Phuket can take the IELTS test instead of having to travel to Bangkok.

At Phuket PALS we come to work every day because we want to change lives for the better.

This is what drives us and provides focus through the good times and the bad.

Let’s face facts, traditional education is not for everyone.

This is as true here in Phuket as anywhere in the world.

Increasing numbers of children are searching for an alternative to long days, uniforms, school songs, claustrophobic study schedules and inflexibility.

We strive everyday to create an atmosphere in which young people express themselves freely, critically and expressively.

This, we believe, is one of the true goals of a quality education.
